Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books You’ve Read In 2017 So Far!

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I thought now was the time to start! This weekly meme was started over at The Broke and the Bookish, so make sure to check out their page!

This weeks TTT post is about the best books that you’ve read this year so far! I have read SO many good books this year, that it might be hard for me to keep it to 10! In no order though, here are my Top 10 Books:

  1. Illuminae (& Gemina) by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

Okay so yes I MAY be cheating here by including both the first and second books in the Illuminae Files series as one point…but they’re both so good! I read these at the start of the year and was hooked from the start, they definitely hold the title of favourite books of this year so far! Find my review for Illuminae here, and my Gemina review here!

  2. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

THIS SERIES. This series has become my entire life recently, and yes I know when it says ‘Top 10 books’, there shouldn’t be one point including FOUR books, but hey, sometimes you just got to, okay? This series was amazing from the first book and did nothing but make me fall further and further in love wit it as the series went on. PLEASE can everyone read this series, okay? Cool. Read my review of the first book in the series, The Raven Boys, here!

  3. A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

I have been desperate to read this book, and this year was finally the time to read it, and it didn’t even slightly disappoint! The action, the characters, the world it’s set in. My heart just couldn’t take it all, and still can’t. It was amazing, and I want to relive it all over again. If I wasn’t still crying over it…oh my life.

  4. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

This book was a complete unknown to me before I picked it up. I’d loved the film but never even knew this was a book until I picked it up…and devoured the story in one day. I was so on edge the entire time and Matheson’s writing style was just perfect. I now want every single book he’s written. That’s normal, right?

  5. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman

As you can probably tell in basically everything I do recently, I LOVE THIS BOOK. If you want to hear more about my love for this book, make sure to check out my YouTube video on underrated book series here, to hear me express my undying love for this book. Having said that, the humour, the plot and the love for a sassy and sarcastic main character I’ve always had, had this set to be a sure fire winner of best book of the year.

  6. A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

Do I really need to explain why this book is on here? Are you all tired of hearing about my life for Sarah yet? Probably. But ANYWAY, this book was a perfect ending, and it also made me throw the book down on the table and walk away because I was so emotionally done with it at one point. I mean if that response doesn’t deserve to be one of the best books of this year, then what does? Find my full review here!

  7. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

The history fanatic inside me did somersaults when I first heard about this book, and then I read it and the somersaults never stopped. This was so interesting, so well thought out, and planned and it was unbelievably historically correct. I loved the ingenuity of the story and how Audrey Rose is potentially one of THE best characters in any story I’ve ever read. Ever. Read my full review here!

  8.  The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian

The biggest surprise that I’ve read this year, this book ruined me emotionally and when you read the blurb, you’ll have no idea why. It’s easy to think this is a typical coming of age love story, something that is like every other YA book, but you couldn’t be further away. This book is filled with such beautiful messages and descriptions that my heart felt like it was going to burst while I was reading it, I loved it that much.
  9. Letters to Eloise by Emily Williams

This book is beautiful in every single way, I’ve never read anything like it, and I hope I never do again because I want this book to always stay with me. It was an emotional ride, and I loved it. Purely for the emotional damage it has done to me, and the sheer amount of tears that I shed over this book, it couldn’t not be on here. Read my review here!

  10. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I love this series, the magic within the story brings such joy to me, and also I happen to love Kell an incredible amount (come on, it was bound to happen!). I really loved everything about this and from the moment Schwab described Kell’s coat on the first page I knew it was a book I’d love. Oh it was indeed. Read my full review here!

That’s it! That’s this week’s Top Ten Tuesday over and done with, it was so much fun reminiscing about books I’ve read so far this year, and it makes me even more excited to see what the next half of the year has in store for me!

    1. I really loved The Raven Cycle, it’s so unique, I hope you love it too! I really liked the ending, I thought it wrapped up their story well but still left it open for a new series in that world! You?

      Thank you so so much!

  4. Great list! Illuminae and Gemina are both two of my favourties as well, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out next year. I’m also currently halfway through Blue Lily, Lily Blue, and absolutely loving it, so I don’t think it will be long before I finish this series off for good.
Glad you enjoyed all of these books 🙂
