Review:

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me this book to review!

I really don’t know how to feel about this book. I’ve never read an E. Lockhart book before, so I was quite excited after hearing brilliant things, but I was a little disappointed.

I didn’t feel invested at all with the story, and it just fell a little flat for me. I really wanted to like it, so I’m sad I didn’t! I did manage to finish it because it was only short, but I can’t say I’d want to read it again.

I do hope to give We Were Liars a chance one day though, I still have hope!

You can buy Genuine Fraud on Amazon UK here!

*NOTE: I was sent this book in return for an honest review and that is what I have written. All opinions are my own and are completely truthful.*

I really didn’t like the writing style, and just felt the characters were a little flat for my taste! But I still have hope I’ll like other books by this author! He’s a medical anomaly. Having the ability to crush metal with his bare hands and hear a heartbeat from across the room, it would make Rowan’s career if she was the one to discover what made him so unusual. Easier said than done, with a subject who prefers snapping necks over answering questions.divider-2461548_1280Review:

A fast paced, perfectly balanced supernatural story with a story that will leave in you shaken, and begging to know what happens next.

I was unsure when I first started this book, but after the first 2 pages I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it. I adored the character of Rowan, and how utterly headstrong she was. She was so fierce from start to finish, and how down to earth she was really stood out to me.

Inside Alcatraz // Review

Title: Inside Alcatraz by Jim Quillen

Rating: ★★★★★

Release: 1st February 2016

Synopsis: Jim Quillen, AZ586 – a runaway, problem child and petty thief – was jailed several times before his twentieth birthday. In August 1942, after escaping from San Quentin, he was arrested on the run and sentenced to forty-five years in prison, and later transferred to Alcatraz.

This is the true story of life inside America’s most notorious prison – from terrifying times in solitary confinement to daily encounters with ‘the Birdman’, and what really happened during the desperate and deadly 1946 escape attempt.divider-2461548_1280Review:

A shockingly true account of one of the most notorious prisons in the world. Emotional, terrifying and extremely hard hitting, this is one to watch out for.

True crime is one of the most interesting things to read about, and I’ve always been fascinated in learning about the worlds most notorious prisons, so when I saw this I knew I had to get it!

The pure honesty in this book is really brilliant. I love how Jim gave us such a true account of his past, his crimes, and what he went through during his time in Alcatraz.

It left me shocked about how much happened during the time the prison was open, and I loved how we got an insight into the escape too. It kept me so intrigued, and the writing was just something else.

If you’re a fan of true crime, this is definitely the book for you.

Review:

It’s the book that scared Stephen King, and I can tell why. With both subtle horror, and a spine chilling story to follow, this is definitely one to read with the lights on.

The Outliers by Kimberley McCreight // Review

Title: The Outliers by Kimberley McCreight

Rating: ★★★

Release: 3rd May 2016

Synopsis: Imagine if you could see inside the minds of everyone around you – your best friend, your boyfriend, your enemies…? Imagine how valuable you’d be… Imagine how much danger you’d be in… Imagine being an Outlier.

It all starts with a text:
Please Wylie, I need your help.

Wylie hasn’t heard from her one time best friend, Cassie, in over a week. Not since their last fight. But that doesn’t matter. Cassie’s in trouble, and it’s up to Wylie to do what she does best, save her best friend from herself.

This time it’s different though – Cassie’s texts are increasingly cryptic and scary. And instead of having Wylie come by herself, Jasper shows up saying Cassie asked him to help. Trusting the super-hot boy who sent Cassie off the rails doesn’t feel right, but Wylie has no choice.

But as Wylie and Jasper follow Cassie’s bizarre trail, Wylie has a growing sense that something is REALLY wrong. What isn’t Cassie telling them? Who is she with and what do they want from her? And could finding her be just the beginning…?

Review:

An interesting story with a lot of mystery, and action ready to keep you up at night.

The story overall was really well thought out, and although at parts I felt a little lost at what was happening, overall I really enjoyed it. I loved how every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, something happened and it kept me on edge.

There are so many twists and turns to keep you on your toes, and I really liked how the characters become intertwined with the story. It was very clever.

I’m curious as to where the next book will go, and I’m excited to get back into the world of The Outliers.
