May Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I’m finally back with my May Wrap Up! I really didn’t think that this was a successful reading month until I reviewed my Goodreads and realised I actually read 7 books this month! To say I’ve been working throughout the month too, I think that’s a pretty good reading month! I also LOVED most of the books I read this month, and I can’t wait to share them with you! Here we go:

Title: The Hell-Hound of the Baskervilles by G.S. Denning

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I was so lucky to receive this book from the wonderful author himself to review before it was released to the public and I can’t believe how much I am in love with this series! This book was so funny, and the accuracy compared to the original series is one of my favourite things! Every single character was absolutely perfect, and the development of the story was so good. You can find my full review for this brilliant book here!

Title: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I CAN’T EVEN COPE WITH THIS BOOK! I don’t have much to say about this one that I haven’t basically exploded and fangirled about in my full review other than the fact that this was the absolute perfect end to this trilogy and I am filled with EVERY emotion possible! Read my full review here!

April Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I really didn’t read many books last month! It was the final month of university deadlines, so it meant I barely had any time to read, which was very sad! However the three books I did manage to get round to reading were definitely worth it! A nice range of genres too! Here we go:

Title: Horns by Joe Hill

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I love Joe Hill’s books so much, but I’d never read this book or seen the film! I knew that the film was really well received so I couldn’t wait to actually read the book! It didn’t let me down at all, from the first page I was hooked and the writing was absolutely amazing! I will have a full review up soon for this book, but I recommend it so much! The story and the characters worked perfectly together and I couldn’t put it down!

Title: The Who’s Who of British Crime: In The Twentieth Century by Jim Morris

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: True crime is one of my favourite genres, I love reading about this type of thing, and since this one was entirely about Britain (where I live!) it intrigued me even more! I borrowed it from the library and it was such an interesting read. It had such good information for each point, and was brilliantly written.

Title: Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: My best friend bought me this for Christmas as it was said if you loved The Book Thief (my favourite book ever!), then this was also set to be a favourite. It didn’t lie, I am so in love with this book! The writing style was so beautiful and had some absolutely gorgeous quotes in. I love the relationship between Maddie and Queenie and it even brought me to tears at one point! I completely sold my heart over to the characters within the book, and I’m emotionally ruined in the best way! A full review will be up soon!

That’s it for last month! I can’t wait to see what this month has in store for me! It’s only the 2nd May and ACOWAR is out so it’s looking like a pretty good month already!!My April Book Haul video will be up on my YouTube channel soon, but until then click here to catch up on my videos!

Until next time,

Happy Reading!

February Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I swear I start every single blog post exactly the same but I am so sorry for taking so long to post again! The amount of stuff I’ve had to do is insane, I’ve been slacking and I’m sorry!

I did make a new YouTube video finally though with my January Book Haul, which you can see if you follow this link! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1UG2dB_YWE&t=1s!

Anyway here we are for my February Wrap Up! I actually can’t believe that I’m already writing this, this year is already going so quick! The start of this month didn’t start out well for my reading life, I got so caught up in a lot of things that it took me forever to get through books even though they were so good! However then as the month carried on, I had more time to read and I managed to read 5 books! Here they are:

Title: An Illustrated History of Notable Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld by Cassandra Clare

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I got this book for Christmas and it is gorgeous. The illustrations by Cassandra Jean are breathtaking. I love the fact that we get to finally see what each character in the series’ so far are pictured to look like (to compare with our own images of them!), and the little bit of information about them is so nice too! I also loved how we get to meet characters that haven’t been introduced yet – it’s all so exciting! Also Jem is in there and he looks as beautiful as I imagined him to!

T
itle: Dear Amy by Helen Callaghan

Rating: ★★★

Review: NetGalley were kind enough to grant my request for this book, so I got a free e-copy of it to read. I had high hopes for this book when I started it, and for the first half of the book I was completely hooked. However then I felt it just missed something, it didn’t keep me as interested anymore and I felt more like I was reading through it because I wanted to move onto something else than I was because I actually wanted to read it. I did like the idea of the book, and as I said I think the first half of the book was brilliant and I loved how I was constantly guessing. I just think that the second half and the ending wasn’t what I hoped for and didn’t live up to the start.

January 2017 Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I’m so sorry I’ve been so absent recently! I’ve been in such a blogging slump, and then university became hectic and I just kind of put writing on the back of my priority list! However I’m slowly coming out of my slump, so should hopefully be more productive this year!

Anyway – it’s 2017! I can’t believe January is over already, but I had such a productive reading month! I read a mix of amazing, and not so great books this month (and probably those ones come with unpopular opinions too!) so this should be a fun wrap up! Here we go:

Title: Warlock Holmes: A Study in Brimstone by G.S. Denning

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: This book was so much fun to read, such a wonderful twist on such classic and well known stories! The characters were brilliant, the new addition of a warlock version of Sherlock Holmes was such a genius idea, it was just the perfect way to start my reading year! Check out my full review here!

Title: The Forgotten Federation by A.J. Grea

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I was sent this by the author (MY FIRST EVER PHYSICAL REVIEW COPY – HOW EXCITING!) and I absolutely loved it! It was so exciting and perfectly paced with some of the best characters I’ve ever read about! I was hooked from the first chapter and never wanted to put it down! My full review is here!

Title: Carrie by Stephen King

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I LOVE Stephen King with all my heart, he’s on the top of my auto-buy authors, so I was so excited to finally read his first ever book! I really liked this, Carrie White is such a unique character and the first ‘evil’ character to truly make me want to empathise with her! A read for any Stephen King fan!

December Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I’m sorry again I’ve been so absent! However I’m back now with my December Wrap Up! It’s the final month of the year and I think that my reading this month went amazing! I loved all the books I read and I’ve even discovered some new favourites this month – a successful end to 2016 I think! Here is my wrap up:

Title: The Young Elites by Marie Lu

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’d heard so many things about this series and had this book on my shelf for so long. I can’t believe it took me so long to read! I loved this so much, it was action packed, the story was beautifully written and I just have so many feelings over this book! A review should be up soon!

Title: The Rose Society by Marie Lu

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Naturally after finishing TYE I HAD to get this book, and if I thought the first book was good I was never prepared for this. It was just as exciting, if not more and the development of the story in this was so brilliant. Marie Lu is an absolute superstar and you need to read this series!

T
itle: The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS BOOK. The character development in this book is just outstanding. I am literally amazed at this, and I can’t believe how much I loved it. THE FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS, they gave me a book hangover well and truly. The review for this entire series should be up soon! I need to discuss it! A perfect ending to a perfect trilogy!

Title: Starr Lost by Kim Briggs

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Kim once again was kind enough to send me this sequel to Starr Fall, and I am in heaven. I thought that the first book was good, but this one completely blew me away! It was so exciting and I read it in one night because I couldn’t put it down! I am literally desperate for the next book! Check out my full review of Starr Lost here!

Title: The Princess Saves Herself in this One by Amanda Lovelace

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’ve never really read much poetry, but I follow Amanda on Twitter so decided to give this a go, and I am so glad I did! The poems in here are so raw and heart wrenching that I honestly welled up at a few. There are also so many inspiring poems that I found myself saving a lot of them to remind myself and inspire myself when I need them. Honestly if you’re wanting a beautifully written book that just spills the truth, please please pick up this book. It is absolutely beautiful, Amanda is an inspiration.

Title: This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Rating: ★★★★

Review: This was my first Victoria Schwab book and I loved it! I loved the relation to music, and the divide of the city between monsters and humans. It was so uniquely told, and I also thought the difference between the monsters was brilliant, it was just written so well and I love it. I need the sequel!

Title: The Shadowhunter’s Codex by Cassandra Clare

Rating: ★★★★

Review: Such a wonderful little companion book to the Shadowhunter series! The little annotations throughout it were the best and really sounded like the characters and felt really personal! I thought it was such a nice little addition to the series!

Title: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J. K. Rowling

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I LOVE THIS SERIES, THIS BOOK AND THIS FILM. I saw this film and then got this book for Christmas and literally read it in one day because I just wanted to absorb the entire film all over again. It’s so nice to relive the film in this way, and this book is honestly so gorgeous both inside and out. The cover is stunning and the little images of the creatures throughout the book are just amazing. I love this book and everything to do with it!

T
itle: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: My friend told me to read this and I can’t believe I haven’t yet?? It was amazing! The character development of Laia, Elias and Helene, the setting at Blackcliff, and the ACTION PACKED STORY. Everything to do with this book was absolutely amazing, and I am desperate to read the sequel! Also I love Elias SO MUCH. The best end to my 2016 reading year!

That’s my wrap up for the final month of 2o16! This month was honestly one of the best ones I’ve had reading wise, and I’m so excited to see what 2017 holds in store for me!

What did you read this month? What are you plans for 2017?

Love,

November Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

How do we only have one month left of the year?? University deadlines are well and truly underway now, so the amount of time I have to read has been severely lacking recently which is a shame! Saying that I still managed to read 5 books which isn’t bad! Here they are:

Title: The Call by Peadar O’Guilin

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’d heard so many things about this, especially from Katytastic, Polandbananasbooks and Jessethereader! I loved this so much! It was such a unique story and at times was so creepy! I loved how Nessa ended up being one of the strongest characters there, even with her disadvantage and fear toward The Call! It was such a good and creepy book!

T
itle: The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’ve never read anything by Holly Black before but after reading this I definitely will be! I can’t begin to explain how good this book was! I loved it from start to finish. The way the book was written, and the development of each character was so amazing. Vampire stories have a habit of being over-hyped and overwritten, but this was such an exception, it took such a different twist on the story! I could easily read an entire series of books on this story!

Title: Nerve by Jeanne Ryan

Rating: ★★★

Review: I had high hopes for this book after hearing how successful the film was. However sadly I was disappointed with this book! I just felt like everything moved too quickly, especially the romance. It just wasn’t believable for me. I think the idea of the book was so interesting and unique, but sadly it was just gone about in the wrong way. I was left feeling a bit dissatisfied with it!

Title: Rivers of London by Ben Aaranovitch

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: A friend recommended this series to me and I am so in love with it! This book mixes a crime, thriller and supernatural story perfectly together, and I love it! I love each character, I love how they all merge together and Molly is one of the best characters ever and she doesn’t even talk! It’s just such a fun and exciting book, and I couldn’t put it down when I was reading it!

Title:
Moon Over Soho by Ben Aaranovitch

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Naturally as soon as I finished the first book I had to get this one to follow on and I’m so glad I did. I loved how this both followed on from Rivers of London, but was also a new story completely with a new paranormal threat! This series is so exciting and completely immersive, I can’t wait to carry on the series!

That’s it for this month! I read a lot of good books this month, and even discovered a new series that I am in love with!!

What did you read last month? Leave a comment with your Wrap Ups!

October Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

Why is October over already??? We have two months left until 2016 is over, how crazy is that?

October is one of my favourite reading months, because it’s Halloween so the perfect time to read creepy horror books! I love horror books, and there’s no better time to read them so I make sure to read as many as I can, even if it is hard fitting them around uni!

Anyway the books I read this month were amazing!

Title:
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS BOOK IN THE SLIGHTEST. This book was everything I’ve ever wanted and more, I thought it would be hard to beat Heir of Fire as my favourite book in the series but this might just beat it. EVERYTHING HAPPENS AND I LOVE IT. I need to write my review but it both made me cry with happiness and also ripped my heart in two, PLEASE READ THIS!

Title:
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’ve been wanting a Neil Gaiman book for so long and I finally found this for £1 in my local charity shop so I picked it up and started reading it on the way home! I loved it, I loved Neil’s writing and the narrative and it was just so good! Now to hopefully read more Neil Gaiman books!

Title:
 Starr Fall by Kim Briggs

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Kim emailed me and asked me to read and review this before it’s release day next month (see my full review of it here!) and I was thrilled! It was an amazing book, with such a unique story and brilliantly created characters! I definitely recommend it, and Kim is super lovely!

Title:
The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich

Rating: ★★★★

Review: The first book I read by Dawn was The Creeper Man (full review here!), and I LOVED it so much. I know this is Dawn’s debut release, so I was curious as to what it was like, and I still loved it! I loved the writing style of it, and yes I didn’t love it as much as The Creeper Man but to say it was a debut, she really is an amazing author!

Title:
The Monstrous Child
 by Francesca Simon

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: This was such an impulse buy because of it’s beautiful cover and the fact its about mythology and it paid off! I loved how chatty the book was, and how Hel was so calm and cool about everything and her wonderful personality. Such an amazing book!

Title:
 NOS4R2 by Joe Hill

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK. I needed a proper creepy book to read this month and this definitely fit perfectly. The perfect amount of horror, creepy settings and also a bit of paranormal happenings, it was just everything. I was hooked from start to finish! If you’re looking for a good horror book, this is it!

Title:
The Loney by Andrew Michael Hurley

Rating: ★★★

Review: This book had really high expectations for me, and I’d heard great things about it but it just didn’t do it go me sadly. I loved the relationship of the two brothers, and at parts I was completely absorbed by the story, but by the end I wasn’t really sure what was going on at times. I loved the characters and parts of the story overall, it was just a bit too hyped for me!

That’s my wrap up! I read some AMAZING books this month, and loved every one of them! Hopefully November is a good reading month too!

Have you read any of the books I did this month? What did you think?

Leave a comment with your wrap ups so I can have a read too!

August Wrap Up &#ReadThemAllThon Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

Sorry this is a little late, I’ve been quite busy recently! I had a pretty good reading month, and I also took part in my first ever reading challenge this month! It was so much fun, and although I didn’t fully complete it, I still enjoyed it! I read all but one book on my TBR for this month (check that out here), which I think is pretty good!

Here’s my wrap up for this month:

Title:
 Cress by Marissa Meyer

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: My love for this series of books just grows each time I read a book. I loved this book, definitely my favourite so far! I loved the new characters, the development of older characters, and also the direction the story takes! It was so exciting and I couldn’t put it down because I just wanted to finish it, but also never wanted to finish it because it was too good! You can find my review here!

Title: You’re Never Weird on the Internet by Felicia Day

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I listened to this as an audio book (my first ever one!) and I LOVED IT. Felicia is one of my favourite people, I love her view on life, and how funny and inspiring her story is. She was so honest, and it was so interesting and inspiring to hear her story to where she is today, and really made me love her even more! I love this book, and hearing her narrate it just added to the experience!

These books I read as part of the Indigo League #ReadThemAllThon (you can find my post on it here!) Here are my wraps ups!:

July Wrap Up!

Hi everyone!

I did pretty well this month at sticking to my TBR! (You can find that here!) I read some pretty great books this month, and to say I was out quite a lot in July, I’m very happy with the amount I read! Here’s my book wrap up for July:
13313406_10204737401354355_104396146_oTitle: Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I’d heard really great things about this book and I’m so glad I decided to pick it up! I love retellings and this one is definitely one of the best ones I’ve read! I loved how the usual Wizard of Oz story was still there and this was set after the events people know so well. I loved the story and the characters, and it was genuinely so much better than I expected! My review is here if you want to read more detail!

Title:
The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige

Rating: ★★★★

Review: This was such a great sequel, I still preferred Dorothy Must Die that little bit more but it was still brilliant! I loved how the characters all developed in this story, and how they all, especially Amy, developed into such unique people. The ending was also so brilliant that I NEED Yellow Brick War like now, oh my gosh. My full review is here if you wanted to look in more detail!

Title:
 The Enemy by Charlie Higson

Rating: ★★★★

Review: This was such a good book with such a great and unique concept. I loved that the main characters and the ‘heroes’ of the story was children, and that this included the characters having to grow up, as sad as that is, it shows that children can be just as important and clever as adults. The story was so brilliantly well written, with a perfect balance of horror and narrative. My full review will be up soon!

Title: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: Now I’ve seen this film 3 times, and thought it was about time I read the book, so I was already prepared for it to ruin me. But not quite to the extent it did. It’s such a brilliantly wonderful story, and I couldn’t help but sob because the characters are just so perfect and wonderful and ugh. This book was just amazing and if you want to read something that will ruin you, I 10/10 recommend this. I’ll have a full review up soon!

Title: The Creeper Man by Dawn Kurtagich

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: This was such a spur of the moment buy,but I absolutely loved it. It was such a unique story, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever read anything like it before. It was such a great story of personal demons and had an amazing horror element to it too! Definitely one of the best books I read this month! I’ll have a full review up later!

Title: Say Her Name by Juno Dawson

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I really loved this book! It took a different turn to what I thought it would be, I was expecting an entirely horror novel, but it took the Bloody Mary legend into such a different story, I thought it was so well written and so clever! My review of it is here to read more in detail.

Title: The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I’ve been meaning to read this FOREVER, and I’m so glad I finally got around to it! I loved this book so much, I genuinely didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. I loved how it focused on psychics and energy rather than magic, and the characters were all so good and I loved them all. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books! My full review is here!

Title:
 Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I loved Cinder so much it was unreal, read my review of that here! I needed to read the next book so bad, and I finally picked it up and read it. I loved it so much! I loved the characters of Scarlet and Wolf, and how both stories linked in so well with Cinder. It was so good from start to finish, and I loved how the story developed, sequels are hard to write sometimes but Marissa Meyer has done amazing with this! I can’t wait to read Cress! My review will be up soon!

I hope you enjoyed my wrap up, I read some really great books this month! My TBR for next month will be up soon!

Leave a comment with the books you read this month, I’d love to read them!

Hi everyone!

It’s officially July! That it means that it’s time for a wrap up of the books I read this month! I kinda stuck to my TBR for this month. I mean I missed out on of the books, but I read more than I planned so that makes up for it…maybe? I’ll say it does! This month I read:

Title:
 Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I literally cannot even deal with how utterly amazing in every single way this book was. Not only this book but the trilogy in general was just everything I ever wanted and so much more! It tied up so many loose ends not only for this trilogy but for The Mortal Instruments too! I spent so much of my time fangirling over how everything fit so well with TMI and it all made sense. I actually cried because of sad stuff and because I was so happy at how it ended! The development was amazing and I just love this book so much. Please please please make sure you read this trilogy! Read a full trilogy (spoiler free) review here.

The Last Star by Rick Yancey

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I finally got around to reading the final book in the 5th Wave trilogy! I loved it! There was a bit in the middle that took me a while to get through but it definitely made up for that at the end! It was such a perfect ending and I just loved how different it was to most YA/Sci-Fi books, and it really finished everything up so well! I’m so happy with this and the entire trilogy I would definitely recommend!

Review: It took me a month to finally start it but I finally read this sequel to ACOTAR! I cannot deal with how perfect this book was like seriously. I cried and laughed and it broke me emotionally. Title: Looking For Alaska by John Green

Rating: ★★★

Review: I loved The Fault in our Stars so had real high hopes for this book, but it didn’t quite live up to it! Don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed it, I love John Green’s writing and I think he’s such a brilliant author! I just found this book to be  a little predictable, which could easily be because I’ve read so many books of this genre. I otherwise enjoyed it, I just don’t think it was for me!

Title:
An Eagle in the Snow by Michael Morpurgo

Rating: ★★★★

Review: I love Michael Morpurgo so much, his books are so clever and he always does so much research in them. This one is no different and it actually shocked me at just how much one second of your life can potentially determine the future! I love the amount of research he put into the book and the story itself was so intriguing! He’s such a brilliant author and I loved it!

Reasons to Stay Alive
by Matt Haig

Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
This was bought for me by my best friend in the hopes that it would help me get through some stuff in my life at the moment. I can honestly say it’s one of the most beautiful and inspiring books I’ve ever read. I loved how it was talked about so truthfully and so raw that I felt myself nodding at a lot of it, because it was just so true. There are some amazing quotes in it, and I really urge everyone to read this book no matter what you’re going through because it truly is amazing. Read my review in detail here!

 Feed
by Mira Grant

Rating: ★★★★★

Review: I’d not really heard anything about this book before I picked it up, the synopsis and cover really drew me in so I was looking forward to reading it, but wasn’t sure what to expect. It exceeded my expectations for sure! It was amazing! I loved that it didn’t focus entirely on the zombie aspect, and it focused more on how it is to be a blogger in that time and the conspiracy surrounding that. As a blogger myself it was extremely interesting! I loved the turn of events in it and the characters were so well developed! It was so so good and made me not want to put it down the entire time! I can’t wait the next books!

 Kindred Spirits
by Rainbow Rowell

Review: I picked this up for £1 because I love Rainbow Rowell and thought I might as well read anything by her! It was such a nice little short story and packed a lot of punch in those few pages! A lovely story about coming of age, embracing who you are and what you love and also making you realise that little things have an effect on people! Such a nice little story!

Review: I loved this! I love retellings so much and I can’t believe it took me so long to get around to reading this! I remember wanting to read it as soon as it came into the library back in 2012, but I never did and I should have! This was so good and I loved it so much I spent all night reading it!
