TimeHop-A-Thon TBR!

Hi everyone!

I’ve recently decided to take part in more readathons because I have a never ending TBR, and I love taking part in readathons!

TimeHop-A-Thon is running from the 19th February to the 25th February and I’m so excited to take part! This also overlaps as I’m taking part in the Thriller-A-Thon so hopefully I get to everything!divider-2461548_1280

Past: Read a classic or historical fiction novel

I’ve been meaning to read this for so long, and it’s also nice and short so should fit in nicely due to my overlapping readathons!

Thriller-A-Thon TBR!

Hi everyone!

This is a very last minute post as this readathon actually starts in around 4 hours! However yesterday I decided I really wanted to join some readathons, and found that the Thriller-A-Thon was happening, and I couldn’t resist!

I love a good thriller so this is the perfect excuse to read as many as I can! There are five challenges associated with this readathon, so here is my TBR!divider-2461548_1280

Challenge 1: Read the thriller you’re most anticipating

For this I’m reading The Fireman by Joe Hill! I’ve read most of his books, apart from this one so now is the perfect time to read it!

Challenge 2: Read the thriller that’s been on your TBR the longest

I can’t even remember when I bought this, but I know it’s been sat on my shelf staring at me for what seems like FOREVER! I’m excited though because I’ve heard great things about it!

Challenge 3: Read the thriller you most recently added to your TBR

I literally got this book this morning and I’ve been wanting it for ages, so thought it was definitely the perfect excuse to buy it! I’ve seen a lot of TBR’s for this readathon include this book so I can’t wait to read it!

Challenge 4: Read the thriller with the best cover

I absolutely love this cover because all I know about Psycho is the shower scene (I’m sure you know what I’m talking about!), and this looks like the bloodstained hand on the shower door so it just seems to fit so well! Also it’s extremely intriguing!

Challenge 5: Revisit a thriller book or author

I read The Girl with All the Gifts a while ago and really loved how captivating it was, so when I got approved for this prequel on NetGalley I was so excited! Then I thought that this was perfect to read for this, and now I’m very excited and hoping it’s just as good as the first book was!

divider-2461548_1280There we go, my TBR for the Thriller-A-Thon! I can’t wait to read all these books, and I’m hoping that they are as good as I hope! The Thriller-A-Thon runs from the 17th February until the 24th February, so make sure to join in, and check for updates on the Twitter account here!

What are your TBR’s? Link them below I’d love to see them!

Until next time,

Hi everyone!

I’m back today with my favourite books of 2017! I can’t believe I never actually got around to making this post – especially when doing Blogmas but apparently I haven’t yet so here it is!

I read a total of 125 books in 2017 so choosing just ten (I wanted to narrow them down so this post wasn’t 9000 pages long!), was very difficult! But here we go! In no order, here are my favourite books I read in 2017!

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor // Review

Title: Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

Rating: ★★★★★

Release: 6th November 2012

Synopsis: Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a new way of living – one without massacres and torn throats and bonfires of the fallen, without revenants or bastard armies or children ripped from their mothers’ arms to take their turn in the killing and dying.

Once, the lovers lay entwined in the moon’s secret temple and dreamed of a world that was like a jewel-box without a jewel – a paradise waiting for them to find it and fill it with their happiness. This was not that world.

divider-2461548_1280

Review:

A thrilling sequel to a completely original and stand out trilogy!

I dived straight into this after finishing the first book, Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I definitely think takes the cake for being my favourite of the three books, because it was OUTSTANDING!

Once again Laini Taylor completely blew me away with her writing style. Her descriptions are so vivid it transports you straight into the book, and feels as if her writing is just projected right off the page. Not only did her writing style excel within this book, but her character development was brilliant.

I loved how we could see the wear and tear on Karou after the events of the previous book. It added so much realism to the story, which I always feel is important for novels, especially Young Adult Fantasy.

The relationship with Akiva was also portrayed with such tension, and emotion, I was thriving for their scenes together! There are a few parts I can’t mention that I loved without spoiling, but let me tell you Laini is so deceptive with the story I couldn’t read the book quick enough.

The plot is so well thought out and clear that you can tell Laini knew exactly where she was going with the story and I loved the change of direction from the first book.

Emotional, thrilling and just outright brilliant, this is the sequel that the world needed. If you think Daughter of Smoke and Bone was good – just you wait!

You can buy Days of Blood and Starlight on Amazon UK here!
