Hi everyone!

The End of Year Book Survey is created by Jamie over at Perpetual Page Turner, and is a way to sum up your year in books with some questions! I absolutely love this idea, and when I saw it, I knew I just had to do it too! So here is my end of year book survey!

Number Of Books You Read: 74
Number of Re-Reads: 9
Genre You Read The Most From: Young Adult

best-YA-books-2014

1. Best Book You Read In 2016?

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas! Read my full review of it here! However a close second is definitely Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, which you can read my review of here!

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

Nerve by Jeanne Ryan! I was so excited for this but I just didn’t get along with it at all. It wasn’t a bad book, but it wasn’t my cup of tea!

 3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read?

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater! I didn’t know what to expect from this, but after reading the synopsis I wasn’t really expecting too much. However then I read it and I was amazed at how good it was! It completely blew me away, and I went and bought the next books as soon as I’d finished because I was in awe of how amazing it was! Check out my full review here!

 4. Book You “Pushed” The Most People To Read (And They Did)?

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. I loved this book and I told my friend to read it, and luckily she did! She also loved it too so that was a bonus!

 5. Best series you started in 2016? Best Sequel of 2016? Best Series Ender of 2016?

Best Series – Definitely The Infernal Devices. I just love them so much!

Best Sequel – I could say ACOMAF, but I’m going to mix it up and say Starr Lost by Kim Briggs! She’s an amazing author and this book was everything!

Best Series Ender – Winter by Marissa Meyer! I LOVED this book so much, it was everything I’ve ever wanted in a finale book, and I just wanted to reread it instantly!

 6. Favourite new author you discovered in 2016?

Joe Hill! I read NOS4R2 earlier last year and as soon as I finished it I went and bought basically all his other books because I was hooked!

7. Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone?

The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace. I never read poetry, it’s never really been my thing, but this book was absolutely gorgeous! I loved every poem and ended up saving a couple to look at later!

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books You’d Buy Right This Second If Someone Handed You A Fully Loaded Gift Card

Hi everyone!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme created over on The Broke and the Bookish!

This week is books I’d buy if I had a fully loaded gift card, and it was hard to pick just 10 (even though I did cheat and include series I’d buy…but shhhhh). Here we go:

1.Heartless by Marissa Meyer

This would be a preorder, but I’m currently reading the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer and I am IN LOVE with her writing. I need this book!

2.Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Another preorder but I’ve heard such amazing things about this book recently from people who have read ARC’s of it! I can’t wait for it to come out! I wish I could buy it now!

3.The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I’ve already read this series numerous times but I would love to have the new beautiful covers with the stunning spines! Definitely would buy them straight away!

4.The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Same with this series! It’s one of my favourite series but I want the new covers with the stunning spines like TMI! I think they’re amazing!

5.Deadline by Mira Grant

This is the second book in the Newsflesh Trilogy, and I need it! I read Feed the other month and it was so amazing! I need to read the next books!

6.The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I’ve heard amazing things about this too (and it’s also gorgeous), and I really want to read it! However because it’s hardback it’s expensive so I need a gift card to buy it haha!

7.Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This sounds so intriguing and I’m not sure why I haven’t bought it yet! It sounds amazing and lots of people have recommended it, so I definitely would buy it!

8.The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough

I’ve had my eye on this for months now, and each time I go book shopping I always contemplate getting it but never do! It sounds so good, so I’d definitely make sure I got it if I had a gift card!

9.Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor

These books are said to be amazing and I’ve fallen completely in love with the hardback covers! They’re so brightly coloured and beautiful and I love them!

10.Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

I’ve been wanting this for a while now, so definitely would buy it on a gift card!

Hope you liked my Top Ten Tuesday! There are a ridiculous amount of books I want to buy so this is only a few haha!

Leave a comment with your TTT’s and what you thought of mine! I’d love to read yours!

Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Facts About Me!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I’ve been away for so long! It’s been a hectic time recently, but I’m back with a Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme created over on The Broke and the Bookish!

So this week is 10 Facts About Me! I realise most people who read my blogs know nothing about me, so hopefully this clears some things up! I’ll try to choose interesting facts for you!

  1. I am 19 years old and I’m also engaged! I’ve known my fiance since we were both 5 years old, and we’ve been together for 3 years. He is the sweetest and I can’t wait to marry him in the future!
  2. I’m studying Journalism at university. I’m going into my second year soon and I hope to be either a news journalist or professional blogger.
  3. I have 3 tattoos – the Supernatural anti-possession symbol on my right forearm, a mockingjay from THG with ‘IF WE BURN, YOU BURN WITH US’ written on my left forearm, and a TARDIS tattoo with quotes on, on my left thigh! I have a lot more planned!
  4. I’m addicted to buying notebooks! Everyone who knows me knows that a notebook is probably the simplest thing to buy me – even though I never have anything to write in them haha.
  5. Belle is my favourite Disney Princess, and has been ever since I was little! Beauty and the Beast is my favourite princess film, but ever since I was little The Lion King has been my favourite overall Disney film!
  6. I love Fall Out Boy with all of my heart, I finally saw them live in October 2015 and it was one of the best nights of my life!
  7. I am OBSESSED with Hamilton. I listen to it on a daily basis and it’s probably 90% of what I sing around the house. I got the Hamilton book for my 3 year anniversary with my fiance and it’s like my prized posession. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE HAMILTON.
  8. I am also addicted to buying posters and fandom t-shirts! I have an entire cupboard full of fandom t-shirts, and my walls are covered in posters! I also have a corner of my room with rolled up posters that won’t fit on my wall, but still keep buying more!
  9. I love true crime and I love history, whether it’s reading about it or watching it! I spend a lot of time watching the crime channel and the history channel! I’m always buying crime and history books! Especially war related.
  10. I wear a ring on nearly every finger (I’m only missing my two index fingers and my two pinky’s), and each ring has it’s own meaning behind it. Most of them I was given on significant occasions by family, and obviously my engagement ring too (I love it with all my heart). I’ll probably have a ring for every finger soon!

I hope you enjoyed reading my ten facts about myself! I’m not the most exciting person in the world so I tried to write as many things as I could think of!

Leave a comment with a link to your TTT, I’d love to read all of your facts!

Top Ten Tuesday – Auto Buy Authors!

Hi everyone!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme created over on The Broke and the Bookish!

So this week it’s a freebie week, so I decided to choose my Top Ten Auto Buy Authors!

1. Sarah J. Maas
Okay so anyone who has even looked at the title and contents of most of my posts will probably realise how much I love this woman. I mean to be honest most of the people who ask me about books will know my love for her because I CANNOT stop talking about her books! Literally as soon as I see she’s releasing a book it goes on preorder because I can’t get enough of how amazing her writing is! For more reasons why I love her, have a look at my previous Top Ten Tuesday post!

2. Stephanie Meyer – Twilight was one of the first series of books I can really remember taking over my life and just allowing myself to completely be immersed in the world Stephanie created so no matter what she will always hold a part of my heart. I’ve also read The Host by Stephanie Meyer and I LOVED it, I’ve reread it so many times. I love her writing style and she holds such nostalgia for me that I will always buy her books! I love Twilight Reimagined, and I hope to read more by her!

3. Cassandra ClareThe Infernal Devices is probably my favourite trilogy, I couldn’t get enough of it. I was the same when The Mortal Instruments were released, and now that the rest of her books are being released for the Shadowhunter Chronicles, she has to be on my auto-buy list because she just creates such wonderful worlds that I definitely want to live in and just read over and over again.

4. Annabel Pitcher – The first book of hers I read was Ketchup Clouds because I just liked the sound of it when I went to the bookshop, and I loved it that much that everytime she releases a book I have to buy it. When Silence is Goldfish was released I instantly put it in my basket and bought it there and then! She’s such an underrated author and really deserves more publicity because she’s amazing!

5. Stephen King – I guess this is pretty obvious since I’ve read so many of his books recently, that and he’s probably one of the most loved authors in the world! His books are the perfect balance of thrilling, horror, exciting and wonderful that I just can’t help but buy his books. They also have the best covers and I just love his books. My goal is to collect them all!

6. Patrick NessThe Chaos Walking series had one of the best book endings I think I’ve ever read and A Monster Calls was one the most beautiful and heartbreaking book on my shelf, so now whenever I see another of his books I have to pick it up. I’m still to read his other books but safe to say they’re on my shelf ready to be read!

7. Rainbow Rowell – As soon as I saw Carry On was released I bought it instantly without even checking what it was about! She will always be one of my favourites, and even the World Book Day short story Kindred Spirits was amazing too!

8. Cat Clarke – I’ve read all of Cat’s books apart from Lost and Found (which is on my shelf though!) and she is definitely an auto buy author. Her books are brilliant and I read them all in one go because I just never want to put them down!

9. Markus Zusak – Since The Book Thief is my favourite ever standalone book, it’s only right to have him on my auto buy authors list! I have The Messenger but haven’t got around to reading it yet but it’s safe to say I’m extremely excited!

10. Tess Gerritsen – I first read the Rizzoli & Isles series after watching the TV series based on them and I loved them. They were one of the first sets of books that started out my love for thriller and crime books and ever since then she’s been on auto buy!

Thursday Quotables!

Hi everyone!

Thursday Quotables is a weekly book meme hosted at Bookshelf Fantasies!

quotation-marks4

To play along just post a great quote, line, or passage discovered during your reading each week.  Whether it’s something funny, startling, gut-wrenching, or just really beautifully written!

My Quote:

“I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right.”

This quote is from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and is my favourite standalone book. I love how it’s written, and the way it mixes both fiction and history together. Also it’s about a young girls love for books, which I definitely relate to, maybe just not in the same situation haha!

I am also a journalism student so I definitely relate to this quote on that level too! Sometimes I love words, sometimes I hate them but overall I just want to write the truth and do good by it, which is another reason why this quote means so much!

I highly recommend this book if you haven’t read it already!

Leave a comment with your Thursday Quotables! I’d love to read them!

What did you think of this book and the quote I chose?

Waiting on Wednesday!

My choice this week:

Title: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Synopsis: The long path to the throne has just begun for Aelin Galathynius. As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down?

Release Date: September 6th 2016

I AM SO SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK. I’m literally the most excited for this book to be released than any other book this year. I LOVE Sarah’s books, and the Throne of Glass series is one of my favourite series of all time, so I am so excited to see what direction the story takes in this book because Queen of Shadows was amazing! Roll on 6th September!!

To play along just post a great quote, line, or passage discovered during your reading each week.  Whether it’s something funny, startling, gut-wrenching, or just really beautifully written!

My Quote:

“There are good days and hard days for me – even now. Don’t let the hard days win.”

This quote is from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I finished this book the other day and this quote has stuck with me all week. I think it’s such a beautiful and true quote and I’ve been having a bit of a rough time recently so I couldn’t have found it at a better time.

There are always going to be good and bad days but that doesn’t mean the bad days deserve to win, and I love how determined this quote is. Please please please read this book, you can read my spoiler free review here.

What are your Thursday Quotables? Leave a comment with your quotes, links or what you think of my quote!

Synopsis: Ever since her brother Lief disappeared, Errin’s life has gone from bad to worse. But none of that compares to the threat of the vengeful Sleeping Prince whom the Queen just awoke from his enchanted sleep.

When her village is evacuated as part of the war against the Sleeping Prince, Errin is left desperate and homeless. The only person she can turn to is the mysterious Silas, a young man who buys deadly poisons from Errin, but won’t reveal why he needs them. Silas promises to help her, but when he vanishes, Errin must journey across a kingdom on the brink of war to seek another way to save her mother and herself. But what she finds shatters everything she believed about her world, and with the Sleeping Prince drawing nearer, Errin must make a heartbreaking choice that could affect the whole kingdom.

Page 71 – “Until I started my apprenticeship, I didn’t know the Bringer was part of The Sleeping Prince’s story. I’d heard of him, of course: Be a good girl or the Bringer will come – it was a thing parents said.”

This week has been a productive week both reading wise and cinema wise! I saw Me Before You twice this week, I can’t even begin to explain how amazing this film is. I cried so much, even more the second time! Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke were just so amazing and I laughed and cried so much. I highly recommend it! I also saw Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which was so great! I’ve always loved TMNT and they finally introduced Casey Jones (my favourite!!!!!) and it was just so great.
