Synopsis: You’ve been offered a luxury apartment, rent free. The catch: you may not live long enough to enjoy it…
No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents. These are the only rules for Jules Larson’s new job as apartment sitter for an elusive resident of the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan’s most high-profile private buildings and home to the super rich and famous. Recently heartbroken and practically homeless, Jules accepts the terms, ready to leave her past life behind. Out of place among the extremely wealthy, Jules finds herself pulled toward other apartment sitter Ingrid. But Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems and the dark history hidden beneath its gleaming facade is starting to frighten her. Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story – but the next day, her new friend has vanished. And then Jules discovers that Ingrid is not the first temporary resident to go missing…
It seems too good to be true; a luxurious apartment, more money than you could ever imagine, and the only thing you need to do? Stay there for 3 months. The only downside? People are disappearing and you might be next…
Synopsis: In a world where disease, war and crime have been eliminated, the only way to die is to be randomly killed (“gleaned”) by professional scythes. Only one of them will be chosen as a scythe’s apprentice and as Citra and Rowan come up against a terrifyingly corrupt Scythedom, it becomes clear that the winning apprentice’s first task will be to glean the loser.
What happens when the only way to keep yourself alive is to kill others?
For today’s post I wanted to share some books I’m super excited to read – specifically books by the King of Horror himself! I absolutely love Stephen King and his books, and I finally have a finished collection of all his books so it’s about time I started reading more of them!
Here are five that I’m particularly excited about – let me know if there’s any I need to get to!
This just sounds so fascinating, the idea of an institute itself is so creepy even without knowing much of the story but I know it’s his latest book and I can’t wait!
Synopsis: Amy Lennox doesn’t know quite what to expect when she and her mother pick up and leave Germany for Scotland, heading to her mother’s childhood home of Lennox House on the island of Stormsay. Amy’s grandmother, Lady Mairead, insists that Amy must read while she resides at Lennox House – but not in the usual way. It turns out that Amy is a book jumper, able to leap into a story and interact with the world inside. As exciting as Amy’s new power is, it also brings danger – someone is stealing from the books she visits, and that person may be after her life. Teaming up with fellow book jumper Will, Amy vows to get to the bottom of the thefts – at whatever cost.
A beautifuly story about books, families and magical realism that you will fall in love with.
