BLOGTOBER DAY 25: Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand // Review

Title: Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand

Rating: ★★★★

Release: 2nd October 2018

Synopsis: Who are the Sawkill Girls? Marion: The newbie. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find. Zoey: The pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is. Val: The queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives; a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies. Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires. Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight…until now.divider-2461548_1280

A fantastical and mystical book about the power of girls, friendships and all things dangerous.

I really loved this book, which after there was so much hype surrounding it – I’m super glad to say that! This was my first ever Claire Legrand book, and from the first page I completely fell in love with her writing. It’s so captivating, and so poetic in places that I was completley hooked.

The characters are such badasses, and each of them represent such a variety in personalities. Val in particular was such a brilliantly written character. I loved how when I first met her I thought she was the typical “queen b***h* character, but the more you get to know her, the more you can see her develop into an entirely new person – and also LGBTQ+ rep?? Sign me up!

The story itself was so well created, and the world building kept me immersed throughout the entire story. I really enjoyed how fast paced it was, and that ending left me so shook! Everything happened so quickly but that was of the best parts of it.

This book was truly magical and the multiple POV made for a very in depth story and it has made me fall so in love with Claire’s books. Go check it out now!
