When I heard that Jay Kristoff was writing a new series I knew I was going to love it, but I had no idea just how much.
This book was plugged as Romeo and Juliet meets Mad Max and honestly it is exactly that. The world building is brilliant, which for a Kristoff book I’m not surprised at all. However in this book, he completely exceeds any expectations. I felt like I was in the world and it allowed me to fall in love with every single character.
Jay’s use of flashbacks to help tell the full story was not only genius, but perfectly used. It allowed for multiple POVs and also for the story to truly be developed to it’s full potential.
There were so many revelations from start to finish, I couldn’t catch my breath long enough to cope with them and i LOVED it.
Each character was so well written and developed as the story went on – I especially loved Lemon and Ana’s relationship.
In true Jay style the ending left me feeling all the emotions and I am 100& still not okay.
I am so in love with this story and with Jay’s writing. I cannot wait for book two. Until then I guess I will just reread this one forever. PERFECTION.
