Release: 1st June 2017
Synopsis: Father John controls everything inside The Fence. And Father John likes rules. Especially about never talking to Outsiders. Because Father John knows the truth. He knows what is right, and what is wrong. He knows what is coming. Moonbeam is starting to doubt, though. She’s starting to see the lies behind Father John’s words. She wants him to be found out. What if the only way out of the darkness is to light a fire?
A murder. A cult. A fire. If you thought you knew the story, think again.
This book sounded fascinating when I first read the blurb. It reminded me so much of the Jonestown massacre and after reading it, it still does. I think it was a very tough topic, and one soaked in history but it was well done.
Moonbeam was such an innocent and honest protagonist and I could really feel the depths of her trauma. Father John is one of the most diabolical villains I have ever read, and Will Hill depicts him perfectly.
He is such a normal villain and I loved that. He had no powers, just charisma and ta was what made hi s dangerous – it was genius.
Although the story was a little slow at times, I thought i was well written with the use of flashbacks to tell the whole story. I felt so many emotions, and it was a very interesting yet hard hitting book at times.
