Title: Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Rating: ★★★★★

Release: 13th March 2018

Synopsis: Asha Grant came to Kerenza to escape her past. Too bad he just caught up with her. Asha survived BeiTech’s initial assault and has been working undercover with the hopelessly outmatched resistance ever since. The last thing she expected to worry about was her ex-boyfriend, Rhys Lindstrom who just landed planetside. Is he her way out – or guarantee she never gets off this frozen rock alive?

But Asha’s not the only one with problems. Her cousin Kady’s ragtag band of survivors are headed for Kerenza – without enough oxygen to last the journey. Oh, and there might be an insurrection brewing. With BeiTech hurrying to repair their damaged jump gate, and a mass extermination planned for the Kerenza civilians, only a miracle could save them now. And everyone knows that miracles are just statistical probabilities…right?divider-2461548_1280Review:

The thrilling conclusion to The Illuminae Files is here, it’s sure to leave you crying into your pillows in SO many ways.

If you haven’t read the first two books in this series, then please go and do that now! I honestly can’t recommend this series enough, and it’s taken me SO long to get this review written because all I could think of was capital letters and a lot of “HSKAJKDHAKDAL” from myself.

I loved how we got to meet new characters, and still got to keep up with our favourites from the other two books. They were still so central to the story, and there was a perfect balance of new introductions and familiar faces to keep us entertained.

I am actually still in shock at how perfectly all three books linked together. There were things that I never expected to be explained or to happen in this book, that happened and made scenes back in Illuminae make sense. Jay and Amie have clearly thought this series out so unbelievably well, I am in awe of their talent and admire them so much.

The layout and writing style is once again so unique and just sets the scene so well. I felt like I was going through the files of the events of Obsidio, it was amazing. This book is a definite rollercoaster from start to finish – I actually threw my book because of a certain scene where I was convinced my favourite character was going to die – I was so ready to cry!

I AM AIDAN – this line will stay with me forever and I just love AIDAN so much. I never thought I’d love an AI but here we are.

I didn’t know how I wanted this series to end, but once I read this book I knew it was exactly like this. It was everything that we needed, and honestly Jay and Amie did the story so much justice. It’s not often I am completely happy with how much a series ends, but this is definitely one of those moments.
