Release: 25th April 2018
Synopsis: A collection of poetic writing exploring the identity, pain and power of disability.Review:
An honest account of the struggles of disability, and the firsthand accounts of how overcoming your struggles makes you stronger.
I recently got back into reading poetry, and this book is definitely one to look out for. The writing truly is poetic, and I couldn’t help but read it all in one go, and take notes on some of my favourite poems.
The honesty that Munir writes with is beautiful, you can feel every situation he has been in as if you were going through it yourself. Mutant Genes is definitely my favourite poem in the collection, it is so wonderful, and really stood out to me whilst I was reading it.
There were so many of the poems I re-read over and over again, just so they would truly sink in.
A beautiful debut collection, and I hope it isn’t Munir’s last. Definitely one to watch out for!
