Release: 3rd May 2018
Synopsis: On the same night Evan’s mother marries local radio DJ ‘Breakfast Tim’, Evan’s brand-new step-brother Lewis is found unconscious and terribly injured, the only survivor of a horrific car crash. A media storm erupts, with the finger of blame pointed firmly at loner stoner Lewis. Everyone else seems to think the crash was drugs-related, but Evan isn’t buying it. With the help of her journalist dad, Harry, she decides to find out what really happened that night. As Evan delves deeper into the lives of the three teenagers who died in the crash, she uncovers some disturbing truths and a secret that threatens to tear her family – and the community – apart.Review:
The new novel from Cat Clarke is here, and what a beauty it is.
I’ve loved Cat’s books ever since her first release so naturally when I heard she was releasing another book I was like SIGN ME UP! NetGalley approved me for an ARC and I squealed because I was so excited, and the book definitely lived up to the hype!
The honesty of the storytelling was brilliant, and the way that Cat portrays the mystery of the story is once again done with so much talent. I couldn’t put it down the entire time I was reading it because the twists and turns were just wonderful.
The characters all worked so well together, and I particularly liked how each character had something to hide. There was one character who was absolutely diabolical (I can’t say who without giving the story away – spoilers my dears!), but the way his character was written was perfect. I have never hated a character so much.
The ending was true to Cat’s style, and was beautiful. It left me so happy, so proud of the characters and unbelievably satisfied! I love how Cat ends her books, they always have brilliant and poetic endings.
This is a book that once you start you will be unable to put down. If you’re looking for a good mystery that will captivate you from the first page – look no further!
