Fiance Chooses my TBR!

Hi everyone!

I’m back with a different post today, one I’ve never done before! I saw this on BooksandLala’s YouTube channel, and thought it was such a fun thing to do, and really wanted to try it to get through some of my neverending TBR!

So I asked my fiance, Ben, to choose some books for me and gave him certain categories to choose in so it would be a bit easier for him! These are the categories I gave him to choose books in:

  1. A classic book
  2. An ARC chosen because of it’s title
  3. An ARC chosen because of it’s cover
  4. A book chosen off the top of his head he knew was on my TBR
  5. A Stephen King book
  6. A book from my downstairs bookshelf
  7. A book from the bookshelf outside my room
  8. A book from the bookshelf inside my room

He did so great, and picked some books I am SUPER excited to read so let’s get into what he chose!divider-2461548_1280

A Classic Book

Ben’s Choice – For this Ben chose To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee – I can’t say I’m surprised because this is his favourite book of all time (other than Alice in Wonderland!), and he’s been asking me to read it for so long and this was his chance to make sure I did!

My thoughts – I have actually been meaning to read this for a while now so I’m very excited to finally get to it! I hope I like it as much as he did!

An ARC chosen because of it’s title

Ben’s Choice – For this he chose The Tall Man by Phoebe Locke because it sounded creepy and like Slenderman – he was correct!

My thoughts – I’m so excited to read this because of it being based on Slenderman, I’m ready to be creeped out!

An ARC chosen because of it’s cover

Ben’s Choice – In Search of Us by Ava Dellaira. The cover caught his attention, and he said he was a fan of the cover so wanted me to read that!

My thoughts – This book looks stunning, and also I kinda feel it’s gonna make me cry? I’M HERE FOR IT.

A book off the top of his head

Ben’s Choice – When I asked him to choose these books, I had recently just bought Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh, so naturally he picked that! I also watched the film for the first time with him the other month, so it works well!

My thoughts – I loved the film, and can’t wait to see what the book is like, especially after managing to see Irvine in person and discuss his newest book at the Vintage event in March!

A Stephen King book

Ben’s Choice – He’s read a lot more Stephen King than I have, and The Talisman is also what my dad is currently reading so they both worked together to decide this one for me!

My thoughts – It’s Stephen King so naturally I am SO excited!

A book from the shelf downstairs

Ben’s Choice – He had a good look, and found Fated by Benedicta Jacka because the spine really attracted him! He also actually chose this book for me when I bought it, so I have high hopes!

My thoughts – I’m currently reading this and I am LOVING it!

A book from my shelf outside my room

Ben’s Choice – He saw the Mortal Engines by Phillip Reeve and picked it up immediately for me to FINALLY read!

My thoughts – This is actually Ben’s book, so I’m glad I can finally read it and then give it him back!

A book from my shelf inside my room

Ben’s Choice – He chose The Lie Tree by Francesca Hardinge because he was a strong fan of the cover – which I must say really is gorgeous!

My thoughts – I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this, so I’m happy I’m finally getting it off my TBR and read!divider-2461548_1280

There we go! I’m SO excited to have this TBR, Ben chose so well for the books, and also it was so nice to get him involved in my blogging world definitely!

He told me to mention his Instagram though as payment so go follow him: @beany.beans for pictures of food and everything else related! He does take some great pictures I must say!

What is on your TBR this month? Have you read any of the books on my TBR? Leave me a comment below!

Until next time,

  1. Ahhh this looks like great fun. I want to do something similar as I had my husband pick a book from my TBR jar recently and it got him talking to me more about what I read. I hope you enjoy the books!
