Title: Sneaking Out by Chuck Vance
Release: 6th March 2018
Synopsis: Luke Chase–yes, that Luke Chase, a modern hero ripped from the headlines–didn’t mean to get caught up in Mrs. Heckler’s murder. He just wanted to hook up with the hot new British girl at St. Benedict’s, and if that meant sneaking out to the woods after hours, then so be it. But little did he know someone would end up dead right next to their rendezvous spot, and his best friend and roommate Oscar Weymouth would go down for it. With suspects aplenty and a past that’s anything but innocent, Luke Chase reluctantly calls on his famous survival skills to find the true killer.
A murder mystery to keep you up at night, this is a wonderful debut from an author that is definitely here to stay.
The writing style completely hooked me from the start, and I loved how the book constantly kept me guessing about who the killer was. This is how to write a mystery novel, it was brilliant.
The book was fun, fast paced but also kept the suspense when needed, and I loved the characters. Luke is now one of my favourite protagonists, and it was so interesting hearing his background.
The amount of background for each character was so unique. I really liked how we didn’t just have the murder mystery but got many other stories, it felt so immersive.
The book left me with so many questions, which was brilliant because now I’m desperate for the next book! The ending shook me, and blew me away – this book is something else in the best way.
If you’re looking for a well written, suspenseful mystery novel with an ending to blow you away, then look no further. This is a stand out novel for the genre, and I can’t recommend it enough.
