Favourite Horror Authors!

Hi everyone!

I think that horror books seem to be less talked about compared to other genres of books, but I absolutely adore them! I decided that today I wanted to talk about some of my favorite horror authors, to hopefully help some of you who want to start reading horror, or giving recommendations to those of you who already love the genre! All of these are great ways to get into horror, so here we go!divider-2461548_1280

Bram Stoker

One of the most famous horror writers in history, Bram Stoker’s Dracula is notorious for being the start of the rise of the vampires within fiction. It is now my favourite classic novel that I’ve ever read and I can’t recommend it enough!

Joe Hill

I first read NOS4R2 a couple of years ago without even knowing who Joe Hill was, but completely fell in love. Then I found out that he was Stephen King’s son, and I was shocked! His writing is so brilliant and full of suspense, he definitely takes after his father!

Dean Koontz

I was recently bought Odd Thomas by my fiance, and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it. I read Ashley Bell and loved how dramatic his writing was, and his unique stories are captivating!

Paul Tremblay

I wish I could read a book written by Paul every single day because his books are AMAZING. I first read one of his books last year, and I read it all in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down!

Dawn Kurtagich

I ADORE DAWN. The Creeper Man is still 100% one of my favourite books of all time. It has one of the best writing styles, and the suspense is built up PERFECTLY. I can’t recommend it enough!

James Herbert

James Herbert is one my fiance’s favourite authors so I knew I needed to read his books. I read The Rats and for such a short book, it had so much impact! I really thought he pulled you into the story so well, and I am so ready to read more of his books!

Thomas Harris

I’d heard nothing but great things about the Hannibal Lecter series, and after picking it up I saw why it was such a loved series. Hannibal is such an interesting character

Richard Matheson

I absolutely adored the film for I Am Legend and until the past couple of years I had NO idea it was even a book, but wow. It was absolutely amazing, and different to the film in the best way. If you want a short horror then this is the one to read!

Madeliene Roux

Asylum uses pictures to help tell the story and I thought this was so brilliantly unique. I still need to read the rest of the series, but who doesn’t love a good creepy asylum!

Stephen King

THE ACTUAL KING OF HORROR. Do I need to say any more? If you haven’t read his books, then please please make sure to check his books if you want to start reading horror, or if you love the genre!divider-2461548_1280

Those are ten of my favourite horror authors! Are yours different? Or are yours the same? Let me know below!

Until next time,

  1. I love horror but struggle to find good ones. James Herbert has always been my favourite! Everyone else prefers Stephen King but I don’t like all of the books I’ve read by him, some are good but some are boring. But that’s just me.
I like Richard Matheson only read I am Legend thou. Thought Dean Kootnz was more horror than thriller and didn’t read more. Haven’t tried Joe Hill.
I like the author who wrote Let The Right One In. I am so picky with horror they are too much like crime, or he style is not as good as other genres I read. But I think I’ve given up finding new ones since some have let me down definitely need to go back to reading horror. It used to be all I read 😄
