TTT-Big2
Today’s TTT is focused on books that surprised me in either a good or a bad way, and I can’t wait to talk about them! Let’s go!divider-2461548_1280

The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian

This book surprised me in the best possible way, I never expected to love it as much as I did! It was so emotional, powerful, and just completely wonderful overall – it was my favourite surprise read of 2017!

Pet Sematary by Stephen King

This was only the second book I read by Stephen King, and the writing in this BLEW me away! I was so surprised at how well he used foreshadowing, and was in awe at how everything ended so well and with so much genius. He really is the King!

The Creeper Man by Dawn Kurtagich

A complete cover buy that ended up being one of my favourite YA thrillers of all time! It surprised me because the writing style is so wonderfully unique, and I genuinely don’t think the book could have been written any other way. It was just wonderful and a huge surprise!

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

I ADORE THIS BOOK! Want to know why this is on this list? THAT ENDING THOUGH. THE ENDING I AM STILL SHOOK TO THIS DAY. So yeah…this one surprised me a bit.

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

I barely read MG books anymore, but this one looked pretty and I heard good things so I picked it up…and fell in love! It was such a surprise that a MG book was written so well, and the surprise naked cover was such a bonus addition! I love it!

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Chaol has never been one of my favourite characters (sorry Mariam!), so I was unsure how an entire book about him would work, but boy did it. I was completely shocked at how quickly I fell head over heels in love with Chaol, and I’m very surprised because now this is my favourite book of the series!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

You all probably know why this is on here, but although I loved the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, I really didn’t like this one which shocked me. I’d heard great things, but I just couldn’t get into the story and in the end had to DNF it. A shame, because the cover is so pretty!

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

THAT ENDING. THIS BOOK. THOSE CHARACTERS. There really isn’t much I can say about this other than PLEASE GO AND READ IT, because it deserves to be on this TTT for everyone! THE ENDING THOUGH.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

I buddy read this with my best friend and the entire way through we kept sending each other messages with our theories about what had happened. I thought we were on it, but in the end we were no where near! You could say it came as a surprise to us that we weren’t yet detectives!

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

The writing style, and the illustrations are what immediately drew me to this book, but I really didn’t expect to like it. It didn’t seem like a book, but I gave it a chance and to my shock I adored it. Speaking of which – HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO OBSIDIO!!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on it and cry over this series AGAIN.

  1. Yes on Tower of Dawn and Children of Blood and Bone. I am currently going through some major withdraw from Children of Blood and Bone after that ending. I NEED MORE! Tower of Dawn was a book I was dreading so bad because I have never ever been a fan of Chaol and in Queen of Shadow I wanted to throw him in the Avery River. After Tower of Dawn I got to eat all the mean thing I said about him. I cried so much in this book and Sarah j. Maas really knows how to pull off a redemption. Great list! 🙂

  2. Great list! Children of Blood and Bone is at the very top of my TBR so I’m really happy you enjoyed it as I can’t wait to get to it soon. I was also so surprised at how much I enjoyed Illuminae, as I ended up loving it way more than I ever thought I would!
