A magical and mystical novel that makes you consider just how far you’d go to escape the past, protect your family, and save your future.

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to read this book. My friend Sarah has been telling me for ages to read it, so I finally did and thank god I have! I completely fell in love with this book, and it is definitely one of the best debut novels I think I’ve ever read.

The narrative was so well written, I couldn’t keep up with the twists and turns; but in the best way. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was constantly amazed not only by the different ways the plot changed direction, but also by just how genius it was. I loved how the writing style was so captivating and the world building was perfect.

The world of Caraval is definitely one of my absolute favourites. From the unique characters, the brilliant clues created throughout the Caraval event, to the ending that left me reeling. I was in awe of how clever the ending was, and as soon as I put it down I was instantly researching when the next book was out!

I really liked that the romance was a very slow burning one, and also that the main story was focused on the love of siblings, and how they would do anything and everything for each other. It was written about so well, and the relationship between the family was both interesting and heartbreaking.

Everything worked so well together, and I am SO ready to read Legendary. Stephanie is an absolute queen and if you’re looking for a great debut novel from 2017 then this is definitely the one to pick up!
