Release: 1st January 2018
Synopsis: Rowan Platts is addicted to success. When she’s presented with the chance to work on a top secret project fronted by her idol, renowned virologist Dr. Margot Miller, Rowan signs her life away without second thought. The realization she’s gotten in over her head comes only after the subject of their study is revealed: a boy with a bad attitude and an uninhibited taste for human blood.
He’s a medical anomaly. Having the ability to crush metal with his bare hands and hear a heartbeat from across the room, it would make Rowan’s career if she was the one to discover what made him so unusual. Easier said than done, with a subject who prefers snapping necks over answering questions.Review:
A fast paced, perfectly balanced supernatural story with a story that will leave in you shaken, and begging to know what happens next.
I was unsure when I first started this book, but after the first 2 pages I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it. I adored the character of Rowan, and how utterly headstrong she was. She was so fierce from start to finish, and how down to earth she was really stood out to me.
The fact that the book didn’t have any insta-love (there was slight romance, but it was very subtle!), was absolutely amazing. It can be so hard to read a YA book that involves so much insta-love it doesn’t feel believable, but this book is a brilliant breath of fresh air!
I really loved how Danielle never “officially” named what Lyall was, but hinted so perfectly that we didn’t need an official confirmation of it. Again it was so unique to do this, and I loved it. The book didn’t become completely focus on it, and allowed for so much more character development!
I loved the direction the story went, and I can’t wait to see how the story develops, the endings has left me so desperate to know what is going on!
