Intimidating TBR Tag!

Hi everyone!

I’m back with another tag, this one is linked to my EVERGROWING TBR pile, that I’m slowly drowning in, but I’ll never stop buying books, never! Here goes:

1.What books have you been unable to finish?

I’ve managed to finish most books I’ve read but the one that I was closest to not finishing was Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey. I didn’t really get taken in by the story, and even though it was only a short book I struggled to get through it.

What books have you yet to read because….

2. …you just haven’t had time?

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. I’ve read the first 3 books of this series and I thought they were absolutely amazing, but they take so much time to read and I really need to get round to them!

3. …it’s a sequel?

The Sleeping Prince by Melinda Salisbury. I LOVED The Sin Eater’s Daughter, but it looks like this book is narrated by a different character, and I don’t know how I feel about that! I’ll get to it eventually.

4. …it’s brand new?

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I want to read it and I intend to this month, but since everyone is super hyped about it right now I’m finishing off the series I had already started first!

5. …you read a book by the same author and didn’t enjoy it?

I don’t actually own any books by authors who I didn’t enjoy. If I don’t enjoy an author it’s unusual for me to pick up a book by them again.

6. …you’re just not in the mood for it?

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. YES I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE READ THIS BY NOW! I really want to, but I want to really enjoy it when I read it and concentrate on it, and that’s just not the kind of book I’m in the mood for at the moment!

7. …it’s humongous?

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I don’t mean that this book is humongous in relation to page count, but the actual size and height of this book is so big! It’s hard to fit it in my bag so I’m not sure when I’ll read it even though I need to!

8. …because it was a cover buy that turned out to have poor reviews?

Paper Towns by John Green. I love the cover, and it doesn’t have extremely bad reviews, but I know not everyone liked it!

9. What is the most intimidating book in your TBR pile?

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare! I love Shakespeare and I’m getting through this ever so slowly, but I’ve only read one play so far and it’s SO BIG! Definitely intimidating as amazing as it is!

10. Who do you tag?

Anyone who wants to do this tag!

Hope you enjoyed this post and my answers! Leave a comment with your tag if you’ve done it, if not leave a comment with what your answers would be!

  2. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
  3. Cress by Marissa Meyer
  4. Winter by Marissa Meyer
  5. Gone by Michael Grant
  6. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K.Rowling

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books You’d Buy Right This Second If Someone Handed You A Fully Loaded Gift Card

Hi everyone!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme created over on The Broke and the Bookish!

This week is books I’d buy if I had a fully loaded gift card, and it was hard to pick just 10 (even though I did cheat and include series I’d buy…but shhhhh). Here we go:

1.Heartless by Marissa Meyer

This would be a preorder, but I’m currently reading the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer and I am IN LOVE with her writing. I need this book!

2.Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Another preorder but I’ve heard such amazing things about this book recently from people who have read ARC’s of it! I can’t wait for it to come out! I wish I could buy it now!

3.The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I’ve already read this series numerous times but I would love to have the new beautiful covers with the stunning spines! Definitely would buy them straight away!

4.The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Same with this series! It’s one of my favourite series but I want the new covers with the stunning spines like TMI! I think they’re amazing!

5.Deadline by Mira Grant

This is the second book in the Newsflesh Trilogy, and I need it! I read Feed the other month and it was so amazing! I need to read the next books!

6.The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I’ve heard amazing things about this too (and it’s also gorgeous), and I really want to read it! However because it’s hardback it’s expensive so I need a gift card to buy it haha!

7.Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This sounds so intriguing and I’m not sure why I haven’t bought it yet! It sounds amazing and lots of people have recommended it, so I definitely would buy it!

8.The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough

I’ve had my eye on this for months now, and each time I go book shopping I always contemplate getting it but never do! It sounds so good, so I’d definitely make sure I got it if I had a gift card!

9.Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor

These books are said to be amazing and I’ve fallen completely in love with the hardback covers! They’re so brightly coloured and beautiful and I love them!

10.Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

I’ve been wanting this for a while now, so definitely would buy it on a gift card!

Hope you liked my Top Ten Tuesday! There are a ridiculous amount of books I want to buy so this is only a few haha!

Hauls

July Book Haul!

Hi everyone!

Okay so this month was quite a big haul! But I got books for my anniversary, and other books quite cheap so I’m going to say its okay hahahaha! This months haul:

Anniversary Presents:

13588962_10204929915207081_1067953563_oTitle: Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin Manuel Miranda & Jeremy McCarter

I CANT EVEN DEAL WITH THIS OH MY GOD. I’ve been after this book for SO LONG and my fiance surprised me with it for our anniversary and it is literal perfection. Hamilton is basically my life at the moment and I can’t even express how beautiful this book is. The spine, the content, EVERYTHING. I’m so so so happy to have it in my possession.

Synopsis: HAMILTON: THE REVOLUTION gives readers an unprecedented view of both revolutions, from the only two writers able to provide it. Miranda, along with Jeremy McCarter, a cultural critic and theater artist who was involved in the project from its earliest stages – “since before this was even a show,” according to Miranda – traces its development from an improbable performance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. In addition, Miranda has written more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his award-winning libretto, the full text of which is published here.

I’ve been wanting a hardback version of this book for ages and this one has a little bit of extra material in it too and it’s just so pretty! I love it!

Synopsis: One of the most enduring stories of our time, “The Book Thief” is just a small story really, about, among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist fighter, and quite a lot of thievery.
The 10th-anniversary editionfeatures pages of bonus content, including marked-up manuscript pages, original sketches, and pages from the author’s writing notebook.”

The Creeper Man by Dawn Kurtagich // Review

Title:
The Creeper Man by Dawn Kurtagich

Rating: ★★★★★

Release Date: 14th July 2016

The Creeper Man is the second novel by Dawn Kurtagich, and was one of the most interesting books I’ve read this year!

It tells the story of two sisters who escape their horrible home life, and go to their aunt’s house in the country, little do they know that they’re putting themselves in more danger than ever before. The trees are moving, her aunt is going crazy, and The Creeper Man is lurking in the woods…waiting.

I loved this book so much. It was definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year, and the biggest surprise too! I wasn’t expecting it to have such a deep meaning that it does, and I definitely wasn’t expecting the horror aspect to be as creepy as it was! It definitely lived up to the name of a horror YA book.

One of the main things I loved about this about this book was the amazing writing style of it. The way that font and sizing of words was used was absolutely genius. It gave it such a unique feel to the story and added to the weirdness of the story and definitely gave it a great atmosphere. It was so clever, some words were in bold (especially in the diary entries, leading to hidden messages), some words were written down the page, and it was just absolutely brilliant. It was definitely one of my favourite parts about the book.

I also thought that Dawn’s talent of including a little rhyme at the start of each of chapter was brilliant. It really added to the creepiness of the story, since a lot of rhymes are associated with horror stories, and the way these were written was amazing. It made it even more creepy and was just such a clever little addition. It’s the little things that make the difference in books like this!

The story itself was so clever and well thought out. I loved the main characters Silla and Nori, I really felt sympathy for them and even fear for them throughout the story! I loved Silla’s protectiveness over her sister, she was written so beautifully that you could really feel the love between them.

I can honestly say this was the creepiest book I have read this year, and it was also the one that surprised me the most because the ending is particularly spectacular. It was such a rollercoaster and, without spoiling too much, I can say that it was one of the best endings to a book I’ve read in a while! Everything linked so well and made sense and it was just amazing.

I have nothing negative at all to say about this book, it was that good. I was hooked from start to finish and it was so well paced and atmospheric that it was one of my favourite reads of the year so far! If you can handle horror then I urge you to pick it up and give it a read! I can’t emphasise enough how amazing the writing style is, Dawn you are my hero.
