If you haven’t heard of them, Books Are My Bag are a nationwide campaign to celebrate bookshops, in particular our local bookshops!
To help celebrate International Booksellers Week, they have created the #IBW2016 tag, that anyone can answer on their blogs,YouTube channels or other social media! Here’s my entry to the tag:
1. What book(s) are currently in your bag?
I’m currently reading a book called Feed by Mira Grant, and it’s constantly with me wherever I go! It’s about how blogging becomes the new media source of information during a zombie apocalypse! It’s so interesting.
2. What’s the last great book you read?
I’ve talked about it so much recently but it has to be A Court of Mist and Fury! I LOVED this book so much, it was just so good and everything I’ve ever wanted in a book and more. Feel free to read my spoiler free thoughts on it here!
3. What book have you gifted the most?
I only really have one friend who reads like I do, so I’ve never really gifted a book that much to people. However if I could gift one book then it’d definitely be The Martian, it’s so interesting and informative! I think it’s good for all types of reader.
4. What’s your favourite independent bookshop?
I don’t really have that many independent book shops around me, but I love the local charity shops! They have some really great books at great prices, and you get to do your bit for charity too! Win win!
5. What’s been your favourite book recommended by a bookseller (or fellow Booktuber)?
I bought I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes from a shop, and the seller highly recommended it and told me as I was buying it that it was a great choice because she loved it, and she wasn’t wrong!
6. What’s your favourite bookshop memory?
One of my favourite bookshop memories is spending about 3 hours in a bookshop with my fiance, just sat looking at different baking and cooking books! We sat for ages looking through them at all the nice food and deciding which book to buy!
7. What do bookshops mean to you? What do you love about them?
Bookshops are my all time favourite places. There’s nothing better than walking into a bookshop and just having the nice smell of new books all around you! I love how the booksellers are always so nice, always happy to give recommendations and also the people in there are so friendly too. I just love the atmosphere and seeing all the lovely books around me. Books mean the world to me and get me through a lot, and there’s no better way to appreciate that than by going to a bookshop.
8. What are the books that made you? Which books have most affected or influenced you?
I have to say that A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness is one of the main books that affected me when I read it. It’s such a beautiful story and made me cry on the train home! I love the writing of it and it’s just so beautiful. Another book that influenced me is Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig. It’s so insightful and I can relate to so many aspects of it, I love how he’s written the truth so raw. It really is inspiring and a true testament to how mental health doesn’t have to run your life, and gives hope to help those with mental health issues to get better.
9. What book do you recommend readers gift for Father’s Day?
I have a lot of history books and I know my dad loves history so I’d recommend World War I: The Definitive Visual History. It has so much information on everything throughout the war, if your dad is a fan of reading about the war and history this is definitely great! If not then definitely any Stephen King book! He’s a great author so any would be greatly appreciated I’m sure!
10. What book is currently at the top of your TBR pile?
I’m really excited to start reading Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige! It sounds so interesting and from the first line I was captured! I can’t wait to read it!
That’s my #IBW2016 tag! I tag anyone else who wants to do it!
Leave a comment with your tags, I’d love to read them!
