I got some great book deals this month!

I got this in a 3 for £5 deal at The Works! I checked reviews of it and it sounded really interesting and exciting so I thought for such a cheap price I might as well go for it!
Synopsis: Rachel Jenner turned her back for a moment. Now her eight-year-old son Ben is missing.

Title: The King’s Sister by Anne O’Brien
I also got this in a 3 for £5 deal at The Works! I love history books and fiction books set in historical times so when I saw this I instantly wanted it. The cover is also so gorgeous!
Synopsis: 1382. Daughter of John of Gaunt, sister to the future King Henry IV, Elizabeth of Lancaster has learned the shrewd tricks of the court from England’s most powerful men.
In a time of political turmoil, allegiance to family is everything. A Plantagenet princess should never defy her father’s wishes. Yet headstrong Elizabeth refuses to bow to the fate of a strategic marriage. Rejecting her duty, Elizabeth weds the charming and ruthlessly ambitious Sir John Holland: Duke of Exeter, half-brother to King Richard II and the one man she has always wanted. But defiance can come at a price.
1399. Elizabeth’s brother Henry has seized the throne. Her husband, confidant to the usurped Richard, masterminds a secret plot against the new King. Trapped in a dangerous web, Elizabeth must make a choice. Defy the King and betray her family. Or condemn her husband and send him to his death.
Sister. Wife. Traitor. She holds the fate of England in her hands.
Title: Warlock Holmes – A Study in Brimstone by G.S.Denning
This sounded absolutely brilliant. I love Sherlock Holmes and the stories by Arthur Conan Doyle so much (I have the collection on my shelf), so this parody/twist on the story is just great. The synopsis made me laugh and it’s the first time I’ve read the synopsis and bought the book without thinking. I can’t wait to read this!
Synopsis: Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius. Warlock Holmes is an idiot. A font of arcane power, certainly. But hes brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldnt deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only thing he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart companion. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety and save him from a gruesome death every now and again.
Title: The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich
My other half picked this one up for me and it sounded so intruiging. I loved how it didn’t give too much information away, and the tagline on the front cover is so good.
Synopsis: Twenty-five years ago, Elmbridge High School burned down. The blaze killed three and injured twenty, and one pupil, Carly Johnson, disappeared. For two decades, little was revealed about what became known as the Johnson Incident.
A diary has been found in the ruins of the school. In this diary, Kaitlyn Johnson, Carly’s twin, tells of the strange and disturbing sequence of events leading to the incident.
But Kaitlyn doesn’t exist. She never has.
Title: Those Above by Daniel Polansky
Such a pretty cover!! Another on the 3 for £5 deal! I love those kind of deals!
Synopsis: They enslaved humanity three thousand years ago. Tall, strong, perfect, superhuman and near immortal they rule from their glittering palaces in the eternal city in the centre of the world. They are called Those Above by their subjects. They enforce their will with fire and sword.
Twenty five years ago mankind mustered an army and rose up against them, only to be slaughtered in a terrible battle. Hope died that day, but hatred survived. Whispers of another revolt are beginning to stir in the hearts of the oppressed: a woman, widowed in the war, who has dedicated her life to revenge; the general, the only man to ever defeat one of Those Above in single combat, summoned forth to raise a new legion; and a boy killer who rises from the gutter to lead an uprising in the capital.
Title: Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig

A moving, funny and joyous exploration of how to live better, love better and feel more alive, Reasons to Stay Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth.
Title: Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
It took me a while to buy this book purely because the size is so different to Red Queen! It’s so big compared to the first book! However I really enjoyed Red Queen and can’t wait to see what’s going on in this book!
Synopsis: If there’s one thing Mare Barrow knows, it’s that she’s different.
Mare’s blood is red – the colour of common folk – but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court wants to control.
Pursued by the vengeful Silver king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join the rebellion.
But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?
Title: Hitler’s Last Days: Minute by Minute by Jonathan Mayo & Emma Craigie
I love history books and this one definitely caught my eye! Things like these are such iconic moments in history, and reading about them in such detail is so interesting.
Synopsis: On 30th April 1945 Germany is in chaos…
Russian troops have reached Berlin. All over the country, people are on the move – concentration camp survivors, Allied PoWs, escaping Nazis – and the civilian population is fast running out of food. The man who orchestrated this nightmare is in his bunker beneath the capital, saying his farewells.
This is the gripping story of Hitler’s final hours, as seen through the eyes of those who were with him in the bunker; those fighting in the streets of Germany; and those pacing the corridors of power in Washington, London and Moscow.
30th April 1945 was a day that millions had dreamed of, and millions had died for.

My auntie also gave me this one for free as well since she wasn’t too bothered about collecting it anymore! I’m excited to start reading it!
